Well-loved childhood books

Well-loved childhood books, originally uploaded by saralonde.

"Incredible Journey" is the top one. If I could have found my tattered "Swiss Family Robinson" and "Little Women" books, they would have made the picture, too ♥

Cold and snowy means shoot indoors :-)

quiet winter day

quiet winter day, originally uploaded by saralonde.

Feeling housebound because of the cold, I started playing in photoshop. I learned a few things, but it's easy to get carried away...

It's starting to snow and between that and the cold {brrr}, I'm looking for things to shoot inside. This just may be fruit week. Texture week, too, since it's been awhile since I played with those.

Texture courtesy of the great Jerry Jones, the king of textures! This was from his Square Texture set #19.

"A Little Bit of Winter"

"A Little Bit of Winter", originally uploaded by saralonde.

Trying to get a winter landscape, I pulled my car off the side of a country road and walked around looking for an opportunity. Despite all the snow, I forgot to wear boots (!) and my frozen feet were not willing to leave the slush on the side of the road to tramp in the snow. Because of that, there is a little more sky and foreground than I wanted and my horizon is too centered.

Guess I'm not willing to sacrifice frostbite for my "art" ;-).

Day 354-365 "Crystal Forest"

Day 354-365 "Crystal Forest", originally uploaded by saralonde.

Did you ever start fooling around in Photoshop and lose track of what you were trying to accomplish in the first place? That's what happened here, I lost my initial vision.

Day 341-365 "Alas! No red cup at Barnes & Noble!"

Guess their in-house Starbucks lacks the Christmas spirit :-(

Day 334-365 Carnations

Day 334-365 Carnations, originally uploaded by saralonde.

Last of the flowers. Carnations are so overlooked sometimes. Everybody loves roses and tulips and orchids, but inexpensive little carnations? They cetainly have their good points: Long-lasting, spicy scent, lots of colors. I decided they needed natural light and a narrow dof.

Day 331-365 "Yellow Flowers"

Day 331-365 "Yellow Flowers", originally uploaded by saralonde.

Someone gifted us with a huge floral display for the Thanksgiving holiday. It was lovely, but not quite my thing, so I separated out the flowers into individual groups. So for the next few days, it's flower photography in November ;-)!

I'm going to try and treat each one differently, depending on how I'm feeling them at the moment. This one seemed to need some texture to go with the delicate flowers.

Day 323-365 "Simple Things: String-a-ma-jig"

This wooden container holds kitchen twin. My husband thinks it looks like a bomb :-) Hmm...might be good for blowing up a turkey.

Day 312-365 Apples

Day 312-365 Apples, originally uploaded by saralonde.

Down and out with back problems all weekend, I didn't want to give up my 365. So I picked my camera up, took a shot of my dining room table (again!) added some apples, put the camera down and went back to bed with my heating pad.

I like this teapot. Clean, white and simple. Comforting.
