My daughter spent a great deal of time making this one. All the little deer, as well as everything on this cake, were made by hand. The inside - if we dare cut into it - is 3 layers of chocolate genoise, chantilly cream, and sour cherries. The outside is tempered chocolate and the baroque ring surrounding it is tempered chocolate with cocoa butter design and a special type of non-melting powdered sugar for snow.

At first glance, I thought it was a fancy hat box, wrapped in an antique fabric, with intricate German wood-carvings glued on top.
What a cake!!! It should be in a curio cabinet, for years and years.
